The only occupation where incompetence gains
you promotion is an elected member of Government: i.e. Amanda Vanstone when
Minister for Justice and Customs dismantled the drugs in sport unit 18 months
prior to the Sydney Olympics, forcing the Winston Churchill Fellowship Award
Winner Inspector Craig Fleming to leave Customs.
Regarded as one of the world experts in
Illicit Sports substances (Drugs) he was invited to address the American
Congress in 1999 re; his field of expertise, Drugs in Sport.
On his return to Sydney Craig was appointed
to the position of Anti-Doping Manager for the Sydney Olympics. If that embarrassment wasn’t enough for Minister
Vanstone in December 1999 she presented a recision motion re; part of the
Customs Act which would remove the Power of Custom Officers to force
unidentified aircraft (Black Flights) from being forced to land at the nearest
credible landing spot.
For her incompetence the Minister has been
promoted to the Immigration Portfolio.
