NATIONAL PARTY NAME CHANGE

The National Party altering their name to the “Nationals” will not serve to distract rural Australian’s attention from the fact their personell will still be the same inept representatives.

Their Leader John Anderson’s handling of the Ansett Collapse imposed massive stress on Airline staff re; the stuff up with workers’ entitlements not to mention his sell off, of the Sydney Airport.

Queensland Nationals member Dee-Anne Kelly has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to assist John Anderson, no doubt to strengthen his push for the full sale of Telstra.

Warren Truss Federal Minister for Agriculture has enforced his Governments National competition Policy in tandem with State Labor Governments.  When they jointly supported the Deregulation of the Dairy Industry, by reassuring farmers financially, this was the only viable way to improve their lots, only to discover farm gate milk prices slumped from a high of 52 cents down to the present day price of 26 cents per litre.

Mr. Truss may like to explain how his Government’s policy is bankrupting Australian sugar farmers.  Prices being paid for sugar on the world market are:

Australia $180 per tonne, whilst Brazil -$300, Thailand - $500, USA $650, Europe - $1090 per tonne, these prices were being paid prior to the rise in the Australian Dollar against the green back.

Federal Trade Minister, Minister Mark Vaile with USA delegates are, fully aware that the American Agriculture Farmers subsidy bill 2001 does not expire until 2010.

The only way we have any chance of gaining “Free Trade” concessions is if, we lower quarantine restrictions and allow them to have controlling investments in film and Multi-Media Industries as well as our Financial Institutions.

If the Nationals want to be fair dinkum with rural Australia, it would be appropriate to change their name to small Country Liberals at least this move would display a touch of honesty.
