Corrosive political machine overwhelms democracy in Australia

In the most important state in a so-called progressive and developed nation, it is extremely unsettling to see boss politics thriving in Maquarie Street. Labor's malignant and corrosive political machine is conclusively overwhelming the democratic political process and consistently failing to credibly deliver services to the state's population. Since Bob Carr, the party only appears to be concerned with two things: internal power struggles and satiating the appetites of big property developers. Such trifling matters as health, education and transport only become of importance if some political benefit is deemed to be gained from tweaking service delivery.

Politics both at a state and a federal level is showing worrying symptoms of a civilisation in decline. Agendas are being set by talkback radio hosts and the pursuit of personal power at the expense of the public good within all levels of government is evident, yet we still do not protest. To cite J.K Galbraith: ''These are the days when men of all social disciplines and all political faiths seek the comfortable and the accepted; when the man of controversy is looked upon as a disturbing influence; when originality is taken to be a mark of instability; and when, in minor modification of the original parable, the bland lead the bland.'' I have never considered myself a political animal, but I think it's time to roar loudly at the travesties taking place in both state and federal politics.
